Blogging: A Reflection
As we start to wind this course down (cue bittersweet soundtrack), I figured it’s the perfect time to reflect on my unexpected journey into the world of blogging. Yes—me, a reluctant writer turned weekly wordsmith.
I was inspired to write this post after reading a classmate’s blog post. I thought, “Okay, fine… I’ll give it a go.” Go check out Echoes of A Higher Ed Student post.
Now, let’s be real for a sec. It’s not like I’ve always been one of those "Dear Diary" girlies. Sure, I technically own a fuzzy, turquoise-blue diary from the glory days of Limited Too—thank you, Prime Tween Era—but after ten years, that baby only has ten entries. That’s right: one entry per year if we’re being generous. I’m just not one to pour my thoughts onto paper. I usually just blurt them out to a fellow human or, more often, to my dogs. (They listen, but always with that "Are you okay?" look.)
So you can imagine my dramatic groan on Day 1 of this course when I saw blogging as a requirement. I thought, “This is wild. This will not be fun.”
Fast forward: I was wrong. So wrong. Little did I know I was signing up for a full-blown personality shift. This was my first time committing to writing something every single week—and honestly? I’m kind of into it.
Turns out, blogging is the creative outlet I didn’t know I needed. I love that we can make it our own—go full glittery and fabulous, or keep it chill and minimal. The power is in your hands, and let me tell you, I felt powerful. Some weeks I got into the nitty gritty, other weeks I gave the spark-notes version (my sister would be so proud).
And let’s not forget the cherry on top: the music videos. Yes, I spend a solid 5–10 minutes every single time picking just the right bop to match my mood. It’s called ✨vibes✨—look it up.
So no, this assignment didn’t kill me with boredom like I thought it would. In fact, it gave me a little corner of the internet to rant, reflect, and sass it up. Would I blog again? Maybe. Will I ever touch that Limited Too diary again? Absolutely not. I’ve evolved.

Wow! I am having a very similar experience. Blogging has become something that I have learned to enjoy. Before this course, I never thought of sharing my experiences in this form. My sentiments were very similar. I worried that no one would comment on my blogs, or that I was simply boring. Now, I understand that I have thoughts and questions similar to my peers. I hope to continue my blogging journey after this course ends.
